Every author wants glowing book reviews with quotable sentences to use as testimonials. A good review makes readers flock to the bookstore to buy the book.

Online book reviews are becoming standard, and your book’s review will reach a wider audience on the Internet. Online reviews level the playing field for self-published authors.

How do you get reviews? The first step is contacting book reviewers, and the best way to find reviewers is to go online. Once you find a reviewer:

Do:
1. Look for and read the guidelines thoroughly provided by the review site. Each one is different.
2. Check the site for other reviews. Does it look like the book was read or a review written just from the supporting documents that were sent with it? You decide whether or not you want to send your book for a potential review based on what you see.
3. Check the site to see if they review the specific genre your book is in.
4. Autograph the book. Reviewers appreciate it.
5. Send the book with a postal tracking number so you know the book arrived safely. (See #3 in Don’t.)

6. Indicate what genre/category your book is in if it’s not indicated on the book. Reviewers often have no idea where to place the book if it has no BISAC code.
7. Include your contact information with the book. Yes, there are people that just send in the book – no contact info, no supporting documents.
8. Thank the reviewer for the review. They have given you a service and an acknowledgement would be very appropriate.

Don’t :
1. Deface the book by stamping “review copy” on it. Reviewers love to keep the books in their personal libraries.
2. Stamp “requested material” on the envelope in hopes your package will get opened and the book reviewed. This is a turn off. Reviewer’s do keep a list of books they request.
3. Ask the review service if they received the book. They get hundreds of books and do not have the time to hunt for your book. Get a postal tracking number to confirm your book has been received.
4. Publish a book without the BASIC code on the back. Don’t have the reviewers guess the genre of your book.

5. Ask the reviewer to contact your publisher or publicist to have the book sent. It is your responsibility to get the book to the reviewer.
6. Send in your sell sheets, press releases, and “stuff” to the reviewer without knowing whether or not they will even read it. Most reviewers don’t ask for books basic on the “stuff” they receive because they get hundreds of books sent into them on a weekly basis.
7. Think that your book is the best book on the market and get upset with the reviewer if they didn’t like it.
8. Expect a raving review because you think you have the best book on the market or your friends/family said it was. No, no, no. Consider the reviewer as your reading audience. Not everyone will like your book, not will everyone not like your book. Every person has a different preference and you have to accept that. Sending a nasty note to the reviewer is totally unacceptable. If you can’t accept another person’s opinion, then don’t send the books out for review or even attempt to sell them. You can’t control your audience.

The waveboard offers you more ways of riding then any board out there. The waveboard is not limited to just a few riding styles. Yes you can always cruise around or bust out some sweet tricks, but there are so many more ways you can enjoy your waveboard. Let us talk about some of the more common riding styles first and then we will get into some of the more creative riding styles. Cruising: simply riding your waveboard on flat surfaces just cruising around the streets can be a ton of fun. I took my waveboard out and rode a bike trail with my two brothers and had a complete blast. If cruising is not enough for you then try riding some hills. I started with some small hills and gradually got to larger hills the more comfortable I became. I found the best hills were long gradual sloping hills. It feels like your shredding through the snow as you carve down the hill on your waveboard.

Racing: Racing is a blast on the waveboard. We would set up turns and corners and race for hours. If you have many friends with waveboards you can all race at the same time. If you only have two waveboards but four people you can do relay races where you must switch the board to the other rider half way through the race. Obstacle course: Because the wave board can turn in such tight corners you do not need a lot of space for an awesome obstacle course. My brothers and I made an obstacle course that you needed to ride over a ramp, weave through cones, do a super tight figure eight, step over a piece of wood a couple inches off the ground and the board would go under the wood, lift the waveboard wheels over a piece of wood on the ground, ride the board over a broomstick laid out the long way and cause the stick to go in between the two wheels, and all this was set up in a garage. Ramps and freestyle: You can ride the waveboard on ramps. Try dropping in or scale the walls of a bowl. Many cities have local skate parks and I often see waveboarders out tearing it up with the skaters and bikers. You can also try some freestyle tricks like riding on one wheel, try an ollie or a kickflip. 180′s and 360′s are popular and very fun tricks on the waveboard. One of my personal favorite waveboard games is waveboard chicken. Because your feet never have to touch the ground the game works like this. Each waveboard rider starts out ten to fifteen feet apart. Start riding the waveboard and when you say go you must hold your hands together behind your back and simply try to knock the other rider off of his board. The two ways you lose the round is falling off your board or letting your hands go. Holding your hands behind your back makes balancing more difficult and keeps players from using your hands to pull someone off their board. Shoulders are legal to try and push the other riders with. Play this game with many riders and it is a blast, or just play one on one. I have also seen online where waveboard riders formed teams and played lacrosse on their boards. They set up a net and each team had to advance the ball to the other side and score. Goalies did not have boards. So in just this article I have shown you that you can cruise, ride hills, race, run obstacle courses, ride ramps and freestyle, play waveboard chicken, and if you have enough riders you can come up with great team waveboard games. Be creative in how you ride your board. The waveboard is very versatile and you can ride it however you like. Wave board games are so much fun to do. Try some of these and make up your own. These are better to play on the wave board then to play on skateboards because you never have to get off of the wave board to move.

Very bright lights at night in an otherwise dark surrounding could also be regarded as pollution as they hamper the normal environmental patterns. Tarmac roads in vegetated areas have been known to stop the normal animal movement, especially in forest ecosystems.Sourcing water is also another environmental issue that one needs to think about before they build. Fetching a lot of water from a neighbourhood stream, for example, may impede the normal flow or even drain it completely. Sinking a borehole may lower the water table, rendering an area even drier! Green building is a concept in construction that seeks to answer to the environmental woes brought about by construction. It involves things like tapping into solar and wind power as energy sources, rainwater harvesting and incorporating green spaces in the design. Medical Care and Bankruptcy – How Does One Affect the Other

Rising medical costs, lack of adequate insurance, unexpected illness and disability have caused financial hardship for many Americans. Each year, more than a million people file bankruptcy petitions and national statistics show that half of them have experienced a serious health problem. According to a 2007 national study on medical bankruptcy in the United States, more than 60% of bankruptcy filings are related to health care costs.So what happens to medical debt when one files a bankruptcy petition? It is treated the same way as other “unsecured” debt, such as credit card bills and personal loans, meaning that it is not backed up by any specific tangible property and creditors cannot take any specific property from you if you are not able to pay. If a person files Chapter 7 where unsecured debts are completely wiped out, this means that the medical bills are erased as well. If a person files Chapter 13 and creditors are repaid a certain percentage of the debt, medical creditors are partially repaid according to the same plan, and the rest of the debt is erased.The caveat is that only pre-filing debt is eliminated. Any debt incurred after petition is filed is not dischargeable.Another caveat is that if medical debt is erased through bankruptcy, potentially an affected health care provider can interrupt or refuse future services. Bigger hospitals and institutions are less affected and less likely to interrupt services. Smaller providers – for example, a dentist with a modest practice – are more affected and more risk-averse.To minimize effects of possible interruption of services, it is a good idea not to file the bankruptcy petition in the middle of treatment. You may also approach your health care provider and see if there is a way to minimize costs or develop a workable plan to pay for medications and treatment. If the provider is someone you have known for a long time and can trust and would like to maintain a relationship with in the future, often it helps to be upfront about the difficult financial situation you are in, including the possibility that you will be filing bankruptcy. The doctor or dentist will probably be more understanding and more willing to work with you if he or she hears about your hardship directly from you, as opposed to a notice from the bankruptcy court.Keep in mind that if you have to pay for ongoing treatment, medications or any other medical or dental costs, it’s ok to make these payments, and it’s important to show all these costs in your bankruptcy petition. Unlike some other expenses, medical expenses are not capped in the calculation of how much you are able to repay creditors. They are allowable fully, provided that you can document and explain them.One final – last, but not the least – point about medical care. If you have any actual or potential pre-filing medical debt that you are seeking to discharge, include this information in the petition even if you are not sure of the amount, even if you are not sure how much insurance would end up covering. Otherwise, if a creditor does not receive proper and timely notice of the bankruptcy filing, you may still be on the hook for the debt.This situation does come up with some regularity – someone has a costly procedure or surgery, does not disclose the potential debt because the bill has not come in or insurance claim has not been settled, files the bankruptcy case. And then the bill does come in – sometimes for thousands of dollars, which one may have to pay because the creditor was not given proper notice of bankruptcy.If you have health problems and are considering filing bankruptcy, save yourself from the unnecessary additional headache and fully inform your lawyer of your situation and medical costs.

Lemme tell you about my experience with one of the premier ISP of our country, TATA Indicom. I have been their loyal customer ever since September 2007 and most of the time i’ve been using the Quick Power 180 plan. Now i dunno how many of you have heard of this plan or if its available in your city but that one’s been there ever since Tata had wired broadband DSL connections. I personally believe that this is quite possibly THE BEST PLAN offered by any of the ISPs in our country. This is a time-based plan and you get 2mbps speed but you get only 180 hours of data usage per month. Doesn’t sound fair now does it? But wait, if you couple it with the Night Unlimited offer for Rs. 299 per month extra you get ABSOLUTELY FREE USAGE

between 9 PM – 9 AM. So that translates into free downloading of data between the above mentioned time at 2 frickin’ mbps speed… which means GBs and GBs of data. I’ll be honest with you guys when i say it felt like heaven in those days i.e Sept 2007-Nov 2008 and i totally loved TI for what they were offering. Oh and did i mention the price i was paying for all of this??? Exactly Rs. 1922/ … for 3 months, which means i paid less than 650 bucks a month for all of it. And then things changed… for the worse.

Yes. Things did change for the worse in Dec 2008 when i was forced to change my broadband connection from wired to their new WiMax (totally sucks a**!!!!). I mean it’s not like i never faced any kinda problems when i was using their wired connection but they were far and few in-between. The first problem i had with changing to WiMax was that they told me the plan i had been using (Quick Power 180) would not be available in WiMax and instead i had to choose between any of the unlimited plans which were quite overpriced, and still are. So i took a fight with them and lost and finally agreed to switch to WiMax. But then my wired connection was already disconnected by then and i had to stay without Internet for about 15-20 days (Oh the agony!) while i still had validity remaining. So yes, they came checked the feasibility and installed the antenna and connected my internet. That was when my problems began. And fortunately i did get back my old plan back which meant 2 mbps again in all its glory. Right after that i realized my torrent speeds had dropped ridiculously and worse, my ports weren’t getting forwarded. But then the funny thing was my download speeds were good. Infact they were better than what i was getting when i was using wired connection. To make things clear for you all in wired conn. i was getting around 180kbps download speeds quite consistently while it topped out at 210kbps. But in WiMax i got 220kbps easily and sometimes even the maximum theoretical limit 256kbps (2 mbps/8) !!!! I’ll post a screenshot to prove it.

Right and now we come to the worst part of it all. Ever since 2 months or so my download speeds have gradually and consistently decreased and now i’m actually getting about 20-25 kbps speeds when i’m using torrents. Sure i’ll post another screenshot to prove that too. I have given numerous complaints but all i get is false promises and diminished hope. Infact till now i think i might have registered around 30 or so complaints regarding all sorts of issues from slow browsing to frequent disconnectivity. So i have given them a deadline, get my interned speeds back running again like it should on a 2 mbps connection before my validity expires next month OR i’m canceling your subscription altogether. You guys might think i’m a fool to write such a lengthy and boring experience but i’ll tell you one thing, an experience like this i felt was better shared than to have lost it in time. Let this be a reminder to all TATA fanboys (i was one of ‘em too) that whatever happened to me might happen to you too albeit in other ways or worse, it might’ve already happened. I want to know what you guys think of this, if you had the patience to stick around to read all of it that is…
