Anger Management Check List

Perhaps you are the only one in your family or circle of friends that doesn’t realize that you have an anger management problem. Having difficulties dealing with your anger issues may be something that you have been dealing with for such a long period of time, that you feel that your anger is natural. You may perceive this as something that everyone puts up with. After all you have seen almost everyone you know display some form of anger at some point in time.

 

Yes occasional displays of anger are part of a persons nature, but not when it is consistent and the person displaying these angry outbursts has no control over them. If you know that you are prone to anger flare ups then perhaps you need to put yourself through a checklist to see if the possibility exists that you have no anger management skills.

 

Checklist:

Do you find that you are angry at least once or several times a day?

Does you anger seem to appear out of nowhere?

Do you find that sometimes you wake up feeling angry?

Do you experience bouts of irritability for no reason at all?

Do you anger quickly?

Do you try and suppress your temper but just can’t manage to do it?

Do you frequently become agitated with yourself for little things?

 

These are some of the more common questions that you want to present to yourself. Then there are some observations that you can make as well that may also be strong indicators that you have an anger management problem.

 

Do you find that your social circle is dwindling, you don’t have many friends?

Do you find that you are not getting invited to social functions as much as other family members?

Do you find that your family is reluctant to go out on family outings?

Do you find that the moment your family senses that your mood is changing that they leave you alone?

 

It could be that friends and family do not want to point out to you that you do have anger management issues. If any of these questions poses the possibility to you that you have temper issues then ask those that are closest to you that you know will be honest with you.

 

If you have someone that you trust such as a friend or Doctor then discuss this matter with them.

 

Finally start to educate yourself on anger management and utilize some of the many resources that are available to you. There is lots of self help as well as professional help for anger management problems. You just need to determine that yes you have a problem and then begin to deal with it.
