There are so many people out there that are victims of domestic violence, yet you would never know because they keep it behind closed doors. You really have to think about the types of people it can affect. It not only affects the people who are directly involved, but it also affects everyone else just as much. Taking the time to consider the people that it affects and how it affects them is one of the ways to overcome this. You should never stay in an abusive situation. It is not good for you, no matter what you may think. It is really hard for someone who is an abuser to stop. There really is such a thing as the circle of violence. You may need to start by recognizing the circle of violence. First of all, there is a violent incident. After this, then you will see the signs of making things appear to be all better and the promises that it will never happen again. Well, when it does happen again, it starts all over again. It is very hard to break this cycle. If you recognize this in your relationships, then you should get out while you can. The longer that you stay, the harder that it will be to get out. Taking the time to focus on ways to get out is your first step. Once you are out, then you will need to know how to pick up the pieces and move on afterwards. This can often be very hard and you may even need to get some sort of counseling and talk with a professional about the things that you have been through. Brushing them up underneath a rug or bottling them in is no way to have this taken care of. You really have to face it head on in order to get the results that you want- and that should be being able to live a happy normal life after being in a situation of domestic violence.
