There have been a lot of debate and controversy regarding how to achieve maximum punching power in various martial arts. Once you know about this little secret it will allow you to have the ultimate punch in your favorite fighting art.It isn’t the speed of your arm movement that will determine the ultimate power in your punch. A lot of martial artist will train their punches with dynamic tension, tensing from start to the end of the punch or gradually tensing your punch from start to finish.I think the majority of teachers and students are confused about the right and wrong way to train their punches.Let me give you my way that works every time and it doesn’t matter what type of martial arts you train:1. The only thing you have to concentrate on and do is to keep your punching hand relax until you reach the target at a 99.9% level. The last 1/10 of 1% is where you must make sure that you snap and twist your wrist as fast as possible.2. This relaxing and snapping the wrist at the end of the punch will enable you to have the ultimate speed to get your fist to the target and then the snapping and tensing at the end of the punch will explode the ultimate power right at impact. The common mistakes that students make in punching because the lack of knowledge in the above 2 steps:- They will tense up their whole arm and fist right from the start.- They will tense up their whole body.- Tensing up will make them raise their shoulders during the punching cycle.- They get to tight and this makes them somewhat powerful but they lose their speed in the process.Important:It’s never the start that is important but the end or target where you need to snap and get your fist, arm and hips tight right at the moment of impact. If you don’t follow the relax to snapping to tight scenario then you won’t be able to have maximum punching power.Review:Keep your fist and punching arm relax until you get to the moment of impact and then snap your wrist and fist as fast as you can at impact.
