Top 10 Best Board Games of All Time

Video games may be advancing by leaps and bounds, but nothing beats a good old-fashioned board game. These classics are worth pulling out for the next family game night:

10) Trivial Pursuit
A truly classic trivia game, Trivial Pursuit is a battle to see who possesses the greatest knowledge of facts and factoids.

9) Sorry
Show as much or as little mercy as you like as you race to get your colored pawns to their home base before your opponents. Use the dreaded “Sorry” card to send other players back to start!
Trouble
As you and your opponents race around the board, you can bump each other back to the start with the right “roll” of the classic Pop-O-Matic dice container.

7) Snakes & Ladders
Sometimes known as Chutes & Ladders, this timeless kid’s game is fun for all ages. But winning largely depends on whether the luck of the dice lands you on a chute or a ladder as you race to the top!

6) Life
The Game of Life takes players through the milestones of a lifetime. Get a job, get married, have kids, make wise investments, and maybe you’ll wind up the winning tycoon at the end.

5) Cluedo
Cluedo (or Clue in the US) is the whodunit detective game that has stood the test of time. Was it Mr. Green in the study with the candlestick? Or Mrs. White in the kitchen with the wrench? The first to figure it out wins the game.

4) Battleships
This classic search-and-destroy game is great for all ages. As long as kids know their letters and numbers, they can have a shot at hearing their opponent groan, “You sunk my battleship!”

3) Candy Land
Although here in the UK you may not have heard of Candy Land, state-side it is the quintessential childhood game. Played entirely with colour-coded and picture-coded cards and spaces, even the youngest kids can play against their parents—and win.

2) Parcheesi
Dating all the way back to 500BC, it’s harder to find a more timeless game than Parcheesi. Played in countries all over the world, this dice-based strategy game is a race to get your pawns to the home space first while hindering opponents’ progress.

1) Monopoly

Buying and selling real estate has never been more vicious than with Monopoly. An expanding selection of themed games makes it possible to put hotels on everything from Park Lane to 5th Avenue.
