Women's Summer Fashion Style Advice And Tips

With the onset of summer it’s time to shed the layers of clothing, ditch the dark colors and turn your thoughts to creating a summer look that will keep you cool in the warmer weather while also keeping you looking up to date with the latest fashions. The good news for this summer is that lots of the catwalk trends are very wearable and at the same time practical for the warmer weather. It’s never been easier to look good and keep cool at the same time.

The big news from the Spring Summer 2011 catwalks is that last years maxi dress is still a big fashion trend for this year too. Maxi dresses are the ultimate in cool and airy dressing and fortunately they flatter most figures depending on the cut. The maxi dress also fits in with the summer season’s 1970s trend and can be worn with wedge or flat sandals for a chic or bohemian look. Maxi dresses came in all kinds of fabric on the catwalks from bold prints and bright colors to dresses made in sheer fabrics.

Another big trend for Summer 2011 is the return of bright colors and here we mean very bright colors. If you are brave enough you can opt for neon colors to really make a fashion statement but for the less brave you will find dresses, skirts and trousers in shades of cerise, bright yellow, tangerine, cobalt blue, coral and vibrant purple. This summer it’s all about bright colors so ditch the neutrals and have some fun with color. Bright colors always look better when your skin has a bit of a suntan so they are perfect for the warmer months and most people have a certain shade of color that really compliments their skin tone.

Loose fitting clothes are always more comfortable in the summer time and this season as well as maxi dresses there were other flowing dresses – lots of them in white – on the catwalks. The look is pretty and romantic with flowing white dresses trimmed with smocking, embroidery and Broiderie Anglais in keeping with this season’s 1970s boho chic look. White is very popular for Summer 2011 and it’s a known fact that white is a good color to wear in hot weather as it reflects the heat as opposed to absorbing it.

There is also good news for shoe addicts this summer as the catwalks saw a return to shoes that are easier to walk in. We’ve seen lots of the four and five-inch stiletto heels over the last few seasons so it’s great to know that the wedge heel is a hot look for this summer. Wedges came in all heights and there are still some very high ones for those who like a bit of heel height. Ballerina flats remain popular and the cute kitten heel, which is also a more comfortable height of heel to wear, was a strong look.
