What To Know Before Buying Pop Up Displays

When many companies go to buy their first pop up displays, they don’t realize how vital it is to research this new technology before they invest. Unlike other table top displays, pop-ups are an emerging technology based upon a completely new design style and unprecedented in the industry. Your knowledge about what made a non-popup exhibit good may not hold true for newer units. Instead of going in and blindly buying your first unit – and potentially getting a major lemon – understand the basics of pop up displays and choose your product wisely.

These Aren’t Your Traditional Banner Stands, But Some Traditional Warnings Apply

As with any big investment, you should always investigate the vendor before you buy anything from them. That’s true no matter what kind of unit you’re buying; a new company selling table top displays and banner stands could go out of business just as easily as one that sells popups exclusively. Research any company before you decide to purchase from them.

Understand The Materials Inside And Outside

Table top displays have a much less complex set of materials than what is found in typical pop up displays. A popup will have two main components: the interior structure and the exterior graphics and text. Both serve a vital purpose and work together to make your unit successful, and both should be carefully considered as you make your decision. Ultimately, you’ll want to find a company that can discuss your choices with you before you make any purchases. Particularly as a first-time buyer, you’ll want to ask lots of questions. Find a company that welcomes your questions and answers them knowledgeably.

Frame Basics

With a frame, you can basically expect to get as much quality as you pay for. If you buy cheap popup banner stands, you’re going to get a frame that is made from aluminum. While aluminum is often a good material for some applications, it is not very resilient. If bent, it won’t pop back into place. Although more expensive, fiberglass-based frames are completely dent proof and will simply return to their original form if damaged.

In addition, you will need to consider the materials used to make the hub. The hub is the element that makes a popup function by allowing it to take and retain its shape. This element is also the most fragile in a typical popup, and can be easily knocked out of place during travel or at a convention. There are two main varieties of this hub: riveted and release upon impact. Riveted designs are cheaper, but the only way to fix them if damaged is to send them back to the manufacturer. With a release upon impact design, it is possible to fix the unit at the scene simply by reconnecting the rod to the hub.

Getting Great Pop Up Displays

Finding the right company may not always be easy, but in the long run, it’s well worth it. A good company will be an invaluable asset as you decide what you’re going to get, and work to ensure that it will fit in with your other table top displays and banner stands. With a little bit of work, you will get a great result and you’ll be gaining experience that you can use for the next purchase your company makes.
