The hard drive on this console can handle eighty gigabytes of space. With all of this space all sorts of music, video and game files can be put onto this PlayStation 3 console. This can make this console work that can work as a computer.Speaking of working as a computer many different third party operating systems can be handled by the PS3 80. This comes from how the console works with an open platform that can handle operative systems beyond what is installed on the system. This includes the highly popular open source Linux system.A great thing to know about this PlayStation 3 console is that the 80GB version can work with both PAL and NTSC video playback options. This is especially convenient in that many different DVDs that can work in the console can work in different playback ways. The ability to handle both major options is a great plus.Different ports can be supported on the PS3 80. The console features two USB ports that can work for helping to get controllers and other materials attached to the console. For high-definition needs an HDMI port that can support devices that can produce resolution levels of 1080p is also featured here.Of course the console, like other PS3 consoles, can also work with Blu-ray discs. Standard DVDs and audio CDs can also work in the console. This makes the PS3 80 a true multimedia center. There are a couple of things that cannot be handled on the console though. For instance, the PS3 80, unlike older PS3 consoles, cannot handle PlayStation 2 games. There is no hardware emulation feature in this model that can get PS2 games to be played. SACDs, which are high-resolution compact discs, cannot be handled in the 80GB console either. All of these things are great to see with regards to the PS3 80. This features more space and more video support than many other PS3 consoles. It can also use the Linux operating system and with helping to get the best high-definition images produced. Be aware though that it cannot work with PS2 or SACD discs.
