Team Motivation Strategies Assessment

Whether or not we, as individuals or as a team, are to achieve our goals is often decided by our motivation levels. This is what drives us on and, scientifically; it is known to affect more than just the human race. Some people say that people are born with a motivated mind set, and this may seem true in some cases. However, people also class people as born leaders and motivators and your motivation as a leader can be just important as somebody’s personal motivation levels. In businesses you have your team-building days, you have funny tie Fridays, you overhaul your systems or whatever you do, but are they just myths or do they actually work? If performance is down, or not at an acceptable level, then unmotivated staff could well be the problem. AssessmentA lack of motivation within your staff will lead to: lowered morale, lax discipline and, ultimately, HR problems that may be impossible to recover. By having a constant assessment on team motivation you will see who’s on top of their game and, consequently, who’s not. Once this has been identified then you can begin to consider and understand the reasons for this.Finding the acceptable levels of motivation can be tricky. On the one hand, if you are desperate to strive then you may push your team too hard and have a reverse effect. On the other hand, if you don’t do this then it is possible that motivation levels could drop to all time lows. When you see your best staff, you should be able to pick out what motivates them. They probably love their job and are motivated by that. But, finding the journeymen or slack members and figuring out what motivates them can be more difficult and, in some cases, even more important.A company is only as good as its staff and they all need to be pulling in the right direction, so that your ship sails with the wind. Identify the individuals in the company, and your team that seem to be the peer leaders. Social groups play a huge part in company happiness, and there’s often one person who knows about everything going on in the office – inside and outside of work.Sometimes even, one person can set the attitude, behavior and standards of everybody else in his or her area. Make sure you know what’s going on and why. Sometimes low morale can come from obvious reasons like: a loss of employee trust, company losses, bad team members of a lack of respect for the manger. Constantly check and review your team to see where their motivation levels are. Once you’ve done this, you can start to think about how you are going to increase motivation.
