The Chlorine Philosophy

Chlorine has been a pioneer in cleaning and sanitizing pools and tubs. It has widely been used for several years now. Chlorine has been effective in keeping away harmful debris and microorganisms from the pool. However, chlorinated pools has been said to be very difficult to maintain. It seems that a lot of people do not like chlorine as their sanitizer anymore. Can we blame them?Seriously, shifting to a new sanitizer can be both pricey and troublesome. This means having to go off your cleaning routine and chemicals and changing into a new one. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem for some people. But for others, it may mean the world. These people just do not want to partake in it. Some people are just not use to change and going out of their pool management routine is just out of the question. So what’s left for these people? What should these people do to be able to continue with their chlorinated pool? What’s left for people who just do not want to make the shift?Any problem can be best solved by enumerating what the problem really is. By doing this, one is better acquainted with the dilemma. With that said, the question is; “why are chlorinated pools hard to maintain?” Let us get on the bottom of things.A chlorine treated pool is hard to maintain because:1. The chlorine levels in the pool switch from high to low very quickly
2. There is a constant need to add in chlorine (usually on a daily basis)
3. Chlorine shock does not work at several times of the dayNow, let’s get down to business. The following are statements that will address the very issues that are stated above.FACT 1: Chlorine becomes ineffective after fighting off microorganismsImagine chlorine as a band of 4 brothers. They were playing rock music in a bar when 8 men with guns dropped by. These gunmen threaten to hurt everyone in that bar if they do not get what they want. And of course, they want all the jewelry and money of all the people inside the bar. The 1st and 2nd brother sprung into action, fighting off the gunmen. The 3rd and 4th brother flung in next. But because the brothers were out numbered, they lost the battle. Chlorine is just like this. When a chlorine particle is off fighting a contaminant, this particle cannot take on another contaminant. It’s a one-on-one kind of show. A chlorine particle becomes ineffective once it is in the midst of its battle. There is a constant need to add in chlorine to the people to aid the ones who are already preoccupied. It’s like calling the police on those gunmen. This fact explains the first two statements of the problem.FACT 2: Chlorine shock is ineffective when faced with the sunChlorine is null when faced with the sun. That’s it. It just doesn’t work when the sun is shinning. This explains the 3rd statement of the problem. The solutions:- Continue adding chlorine to your pool. Use water test strips to help you. Do not get irritated if your pool needs more chlorine. It needs chlorine to be able to protect you.- Shock your pool after the dark or early morning. There is always a solution. Now that you know what they are, apply them to your chlorine pool philosophy and everything will be alright.
